Australian Cockroaches

Just in case you'd like to know more about the different types of cockroaches you may come up against we have put this page together.

German Cockroach (Blattella Germanica)

  • This is the most widespread pest cockroach in Australia
  • Amber in colour and about 12-15mm long with two dark longitudinal stripes on the upper visible part of the thorax
  • Breeds rapidly  and favours warm and moist locations where food is present
  • Found under refrigerators, stoves and hot water systems

These are the mean and nasty cockies that quite literally take over your house!

What starts as a few little cockies can very quickly turn into what seems like a plague of cockies and it doesn't seem to matter what you try the problem only seems to get worse.

Most if not all of the DIY products out there will struggle to not only contain but eliminate an infestation of these cockies.

Do not delay-contact us today!

Don't believe me? This is how bad an infestation can get if left unattended!

Australian Cockroach (Periplaneta Australasiae)

  • the Australian Cockroach is mostly found outside but does enter indoors as well
  • Up to 45mm long, it has a dark reddish / brown body and clearly defined yellow markings on the upper thorax

Like most of the big flying cockies these guys stumble into your home by accident.

A quick spray with any insect spray will do the trick-remember you do not have to drown it!

If you have had your property professionally pest controlled recently there should be enough residual insecticide to exterminate them-just remember they have to come into contact with the residual spray so it may take some time.

Oriental Cockroach (Blatta Orientalis)

  • Dark brown to black in colour
  • Feeds on a variety of decaying organic matter, frequently feeding in garbage disposal areas

Again like the Australian Cockroach these guys stumble into your home by accident.

A quick spray with any insect spray is all that is required if you have not had a recent cockroach control treatment carried out at your premises.

Smokybrown Cockroach (Periplaneta Fuliginosa)

  • About 30mm in length and dark brown to almost black body
  • Breed in gardens where organic materials are used, and enter indoors

Again like above these guys stumble into your home by accident.

A quick spray with any insect spray is all that is required if you have not had a recent cockroach control treatment carried out at your premises.

Brownbanded Cockroach (Supella Longipalpa)

  • Found indoors in offices, storerooms, most commonly found behind and inside furniture
  • About 12 – 15mm long and pale brown in colour with very pale bands across the thorax and abdomen

Again like above these guys stumble into your home by accident.

A quick spray with any insect spray is all that is required if you have not had a recent cockroach control treatment carried out at your premises.

American Cockroach (Periplaneta Americana)

  • Similar to the Australian Cockroach, except slightly lighter in colour, with less distinctive markings
  • Abundant in the sewer systems of towns and cities, as well as food preparation / eating facilities

Again like above these guys stumble into your home by accident.

A quick spray with any insect spray is all that is required if you have not had a recent cockroach control treatment carried out at your premises.
